Got your visa and think you are all set? There are still things to watch out for when entering Vietnam—especially the new electronic pre-arrival declaration introduced in 2026.
Official declaration platform of the Vietnam Immigration Department: prearrival.immigration.gov.vn
Information you need to enter:
• Personal details (name, passport number, nationality).
• Your entry date and port of entry.
• Your accommodation address in Vietnam (the hotel name is enough).
We recommend completing it within 3 days before arrival; after submitting, save the declaration QR code and present it upon entry.
• Original passport (valid for at least 6 months).
• A printed copy of your e-visa (color printout on A4 paper).
• The original loose-leaf visa (if that is the visa type you applied for).
• A screenshot of the electronic pre-arrival declaration QR code.
1. After landing, follow the "Immigration" signs to the arrival hall.
2. Queue at the foreign-national lane.
3. Present your passport, visa, and arrival card (handed out on the plane).
4. Have your passport stamped and collect your luggage.
Q:Is it okay to keep the e-visa on my phone?
A:We recommend printing it out—customs may ask for a paper document.
Q:Can I enter through a land border crossing?
A:The e-visa is accepted at designated land border crossings—just choose the relevant crossing when you place your order.
Q:What questions will I be asked at entry?
A:Usually they ask about the purpose of your visit, how long you will stay, and where you will stay—just answer honestly.
