Many people applying for a Vietnam visa for the first time are not sure what to prepare. This article explains the document requirements for both the e-visa and the loose-leaf visa all at once.
• Original passport: valid for more than 6 months, with at least 2 blank visa pages.
• Scan of the passport biodata page: color, clear, with all four corners visible and no glare.
• Digital ID photo: bare-head on a white background, 4×6 cm, taken within the last 6 months.
The e-visa requires only digital documents—there is no need to mail the original passport:
• A color scan of the passport biodata page.
• A digital ID photo on a white background.
• Fill in your entry date, exit date, and port of entry.
After you submit the documents, the visa is issued in 4–5 business days; the PDF is sent straight to your email—just print it out to enter the country.
For the loose-leaf visa, the visa sheet is couriered to you:
• A scan of the passport biodata page.
• A digital ID photo on a white background.
• A delivery address (freight collect via SF Express).
Once it is ready, carry the visa sheet together with your passport when you enter.
Q:What are the photo requirements?
A:White background, bare head, no glasses, ears visible, JPG format, and no larger than 2 MB.
Q:My passport is newly renewed; do I need to use the old Vietnam visa on my previous passport?
A:No—just apply for a new visa with your new passport.
Q:Do I need to provide flight and hotel booking confirmations?
A:Not through our service—the Vietnam Immigration Department does not require an itinerary for e-visa applications.
