The Difference Between a Vietnam E-Visa and a Loose-Leaf Visa

Many first-time visitors to Vietnam ask: what exactly is the difference between an e-visa and a loose-leaf visa, and which should I choose? This article clears it all up at once.

What is an E-Visa (eVisa)?

The Vietnam e-visa is an online visa introduced by the Vietnam Immigration Department in 2017. Once approved, you receive a PDF file—just print it out and you can enter Vietnam. There is no sticker to place in your passport and no need to courier documents.

What is a Loose-Leaf Visa?

A loose-leaf visa is the traditional format: your visa details are printed on a separate visa sheet, which you present together with your passport upon entry. We prepare the loose-leaf visa and courier it to you via SF Express.

Which Should I Choose?

• If you are overseas, or want your visa issued quickly, choose the e-visa.
• If you are not comfortable with a printed copy and prefer a physical visa sheet, choose the loose-leaf visa.
• If you need multiple-entry travel beyond 30 days, choose the e-visa.
